Billets/Blooms/Slabs

What are Blooms?

Blooms are semi-finished steel products characterized by their square or rectangular cross-section. They are produced through a melting and casting process where molten steel, derived from melting sponge iron, scrap, and other ancillary minerals in an induction furnace, is poured into moulds. This process results in the formation of blooms and slabs of the required dimensions.

Manufacturing Process

The production of blooms and slabs involves melting raw materials in an induction furnace, followed by a casting process to create the desired shapes and sizes. This process ensures high quality and consistency in the finished products.

We further employ a ladle refining furnace (LRF) for producing special grade (alloy) steel, such as corten steel, enhancing the quality and characteristics of our steel products.

  • Versatility of Blooms– Blooms can be further rolled into various long and flat finished products, showcasing their versatility in steel production.
  • In-House Usage and Market Sales – We utilize the majority of our in-house blooms and slabs for the manufacturing of narrow-width HR coils, ensuring efficiency and quality in our production processes. Additionally, we sell a portion of our blooms and slabs to other steel product manufacturers, contributing to a robust market presence.
