Sambhv Steel Tubes Limited is one of the key players in the Indian steel industry, specializing in the manufacturing of electric resistance welded (“ERW”) steel pipes and structural tubes (hollow section)As of March 31, 2024, we stand among the leading manufacturers in terms of installed capacity, showcasing our strong position in the domestic market. What sets us apart is our unique capability as the only company in India with a single-location backward-integrated manufacturing facility for ERW steel pipes and tubes, spanning the entire value chain—from raw materials to finished products.
This backward integration enables us to exercise complete control over every stage of the production process, ensuring superior quality, cost-efficiency, and consistency. From the initial stages of producing sponge iron to the intermediate manufacturing of blooms/slabs and hot-rolled (HR) coils, all the way to the final output of ERW black pipes and tubes (hollow sections) and galvanized iron (GI) pipes, every component of our production cycle is handled in-house.
Moreover, we are one of only two companies in India capable of producing ERW steel pipes and tubes using narrow-width HR coils and the only one with backward integration for producing these coils in-house. This capability provides us with a significant competitive edge and ensures consistent supply for our production needs.
Product Portfolio
Our extensive product portfolio includes various intermediate as well as finished steel products due to our presence across the value chain. Our fully integrated manufacturing operations encompass the production of intermediate products, namely sponge iron, mild steel blooms/slabs, and HR coils, which are primarily used for captive consumption in the manufacturing of our final products, including ERW black pipes and tubes (hollow section), GI pipes, and steel door frames. We have also recently commenced the manufacturing of stainless steel blooms/slabs and HR coils.
Further, we intend to commission our second manufacturing facility in Village – Kuthrel, Raipur within the current fiscal year, thereby augmenting our production capacity and enhancing our product portfolio. The Kuthrel manufacturing plant will have the capacity to produce galvanised (GP) coils, pre-galvanised (GP) pipes, stainless steel HRAP coils, and stainless steel CR coils.
Our product and capacity expansion plans will allow us to meet the anticipated increase in demand for our products in the future. This will enable us to serve growing markets more efficiently and drive profitability, reinforcing our commitment to continuous growth and innovation in the steel industry.
Strategic Expansion and Efficient Integration
Sambhv Steel Tubes Ltd. is a key player in India with a unique single-location backward integrated manufacturing facility for pipes and tubes manufacturing. Over the years, we have undertaken forward integration initiatives, enabling us to produce value added finished products using raw materials manufactured in-house, which has resulted in achieving operational efficiency, reducing product costs, controlling supply of raw materials, and monitoring the quality of our products, thus giving us a competitive advantage. Our integrated set up also reduces delivery timelines which allows us to service our customers faster, leads to higher operating margins and allows us to produce value added products.
Recently, we expanded the production capacity of Sponge Iron, Power, Blooms/Slabs, HR Coils and ERW pipes and tubes at our Sarora (Tilda) Facility. We have also started manufacturing Stainless Steel Bloms/Slabs and HR coils. These capacity expansions and introduction of new products enable us to manage a higher volume of production and enhance operational efficiency.
In the current fiscal year, we also plan to operationalize our second manufacturing facility in Village Kuthrel, District Raipur, Chhattisgarh. This facility will primarily focus on manufacturing value-added products such as GP coils, GP pipes, stainless steel HR annealed and pickled (SS HRAP) coils, and stainless steel cold-rolled (SS CR) coils.
Further, we are planning to commission a greenfield manufacturing facility in Village - Kesda, District Baloda Bazar Bhatapara, Chhattisgarh. This facility will be operated by our subsidiary, Sambhv Tubes Private Limited. We intend to add an installed capacity of approximately 1.20 MMTPA of finished product in three phases. Phase 1, for which a no objection certificate from the Kesda gram panchayat has been received, is expected to be commissioned by Fiscal 2027. The HR mill for this facility has been procured and is in the process of being imported and approximately 350,653 square meters of land has been acquired by our subsidiary, Sambhv Tubes Private Limited.
The close proximity of our Sarora (Tilda) Facility to the proposed Kuthrel and Kesda manufacturing facilities further strengthens our backward integration capabilities, allowing us to streamline our production processes and ensure a consistent supply of high-quality materials.
Commitment to Quality and Innovation
Located in the mineral-rich state of Chhattisgarh, our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Sarora (Tilda), Raipur, benefits from proximity to key raw material suppliers. We source highest-grade iron ore from a Navratna PSU and benefit from easy availability of coal due to presence of a Maharatna PSU, ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain for our production process. As an end-to-end ERW steel pipes and structural tubes manufacturer with in-house competence in procurement of raw materials, production, marketing and sales, we are well-positioned to capitalize on the growth in the sector. Our integrated manufacturing processes enable us to deliver consistent quality products with reduced delivery timeline and at competitive prices, ensuring that the customers prefer us, which gives us competitive advantage.
Our strong process innovation and execution capability allows us to produce various value-added products. We are the only company in India producing narrow-width HR coils through a secondary manufacturing route, using induction furnaces and direct reduced iron (“DRI”). Our narrow-width HR coil manufacturing capabilities, which are at par with those of primary manufacturers of HR coils, leads to reduced capital expenditure and costs during our pipe manufacturing process and reduces dependency on external HR coil suppliers.
We are also among a limited number of manufacturers in India manufacturing Stainless Steel blooms/slabs through the AOD process, which is a cost-effective process. This process consumes lower raw material and gives higher metallic yields than the other equivalent processes. Thus, better quality of product at a low cost and a minimum raw material consumption provides a degree of competitiveness edge to our Company. Further, we also have a ladle refining furnace (LRF) to manufacture quality steel products (alloy steel) through induction furnace route.
